The Wind Waker is a tool used by Link in The Wind Waker that plays a very similar role to the ocarina in Ocarina of Time. It allows him to alter the wind's direction, change night into day, or warp across the Great Sea. There are a total of six songs in the game, each with their own purpose. There are three 'times' to play with: 3 time, 4 time, and 6 time. Each time has the respective number of notes to play. You change times with the control stick, and play notes with the C stick.
 3 Time
To play in 3 time, keep the control stick in the neutral position. Tilting up and down increase and decrease volume, although this serves no practical purpose.
This song is learned at Dragon Roost Island, and is the first one in the game. Using this outdoors will allow you to change the direction of the wind.
 4 Time
To play in 4 time, hold the control stick in the left position. Slightly tilting up and down increase and decrease volume, although this serves no practical purpose.
This song is learned in the Tower of the Gods. It allows you to take control of certain objects and people.
 6 Time
To play in 6 time, hold the control stick in the right position. Slightly tilting up and down increase and decrease volume, although this serves no practical purpose.
