Groose is a student at the Knight Academy in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and serves as an early rival for the game. Groose's personality changes as the game progresses.

[edit] Skyword Sword

In Skyword Sword, Groose serves as a rival during the early parts of the game. Him, along with his friends, Cawlin and Strich, are known to be routy boys who tend to stir up trouble. Groose is the head of the group and is a role model to the other two.

Groose is also known for his admiration of Zelda, one of the reasons he is not fond of you; he constantly refers to you being "close to Zelda since birth" and because of that given special treatment. Groose is very clearly romantically involved with Zelda and will not stop until he gets her.

When preparing for the Wing Ceromony, the ceromony to decide who's the next Knight, it is revealed that Groose and his friends pinned your bird in their secret hideout to stop you from racing - possibly due to your superior Loftwing, the Crimson Loftwing, and your ability to outfly Groose. Once your bird is found and you start the race with Groose, he will disobey your instructor's orders and try to knock you off your Loftwing.

When Link emerges the victor of the race and Zelda is taken, Groose is horrified. He is first seen sulking in his room, but he will soon leave Skyloft to find Zelda.

[edit] Appearance

Groose wears something very similar to the tradition Knight Attire, though not officially a senior yet. He wears the tunic, baggy tights and boots. He does not have the hat.

Groose's most prized position is no doubt his pointy red hair. Through dialogue Link can insult his hair to which Groose will immediately counter. Groose is also a very large, bulky kid who takes pride in his physical strength and appearance. Said ambitions could be related to his love for Zelda.

[edit] Trivia

  • Groose's room is full of gym equipment.
  • Groose's room will be taken by Cawlin once Groose leaves.
