The Legend of Zelda
Your damsel in distress. Stealing the title of the franchise, Zelda needs some major rescuing in the game and it's up to you to save her. She shattered the triforce into eight pieces so that Ganon couldn't get his slimy fingers on it.
The Adventure of Link
Zelda is the heir to the Royal Throne after her father's passing. The Evil Wizard hired by the Prince tortures her into revealing the whereabouts of the Triforce and when she refuses, The Evil Wizard puts her into an eternal sleep, from which can only be broken by one with a pure heart.
A Link to the Past
The Princess of Hyrule, and the Seventh Maiden, Zelda is taken captive by Agahnim at the start of the game. Zelda sends out a telepathic plea for help to Link. Link answers the call, and sets off to save the princess.
Ocarina of Time
The young Princess of Hyrule is wise beyond her years, due to the triforce of wisdom that she does not know she carries. She helps out Link throughout his voyage by telling him where he needs to go and what he needs to do in order to save Hyrule. She is seen Directly after Link turns into an adult, and she steps out of the shadows in the Temple of Time, as Sheik.
Majora's Mask
Princess Zelda makes a very small appearance in the game, when you first receive the Ocarina of Time, Link's mind is filled with memories of Princess Zelda, she teaches you the most useful song in the game, the Song of Time.
Wind Waker
Zelda is the Princess of Hyrule. She holds a part of the Triforce of Wisdom, and is only awakened as the Princess once she receives the rest from the King. She is an invaluable partner for Link, and even helps him through the toughest fight he will ever face. Zelda is also the pirate Tetra.
Minish Cap
Zelda is the Princess of Hyrule, and also Link’s best friend. Despite her Royal upbringing, Zelda has no reservations about spending time with the rather unrefined Link. Not only does she ask Link to escort her around the festival, she also grants him permission to watch the annual ceremony where the winner of the Sword Competition gets to touch the Picori Blade.
Twilight Princess
Zelda was the young ruler of Hyrule until its invasion by Zant, the Twilight King, when she surrendered to him upon his prompt of "Life? Or death?" in an effort to protect her people. From then on, she is imprisoned inside a tower in Hyrule Castle, although she does not become a spirit under the influence of the Twilight King's magic like her people. It is here that she meets Link, transformed into a wolf by the Twilight Realm's power. Later, she apparently gives up this power, and her physical form, to aid a purified and dying Midna. Zelda regains her body later, only to be possessed by Ganondorf, but his influence is purged from her body by Midna. Ganondorf makes another attempt on Zelda's life soon after, but she is protected by the Light Spirits of Hyrule, who grant her the Light Arrows to assist Link in part of his final battle, making this her third participation in the final battle. The last time she is seen in the game is when she and Link say goodbye to Midna at the Mirror of Twilight. In Twilight Princess, Zelda, despite retaining her "Princess" title, is the matriarch of Hyrule (queen-in-waiting). Other incarnations of Zelda have featured her as the daughter and possible heiress to the king of Hyrule, as opposed to the land's ruler.
