|The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild|
|Platform|| Wii U|
|International Release Date(s)||Worldwide: March 3, 2017|
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the 19th mainline title in Nintendo's adventure game series, and was originally developed for the Wii U platform before undergoing optimization for the Switch hardware launching worldwide on March 3, 2017.
Players become series protagonist Link once more as he awakens from a "cold sleep" to explore the lands of Hyrule which itself has seen some passage of time following a mysterious disaster. Breath of the Wild places greater emphasis on open world exploration compared to previous installments in the series, as the environment itself offers a new level of interactivity. Immersion is further heightened through survival skills that Link can leverage, including gathering and scavenging for resources to use in gear and item crafting.
In addition to exploration and puzzle solving, Link must also defend himself in real-time combat against classic enemies that have established encampments and strongholds throughout Hyrule, as well as in dungeons. Link has access to a variety of weapon types that players can craft as well as repurpose from enemies themselves, each with their own attack combos. Combat is dynamic, with enemies reacting in a multitude of ways to different attacks and magics that players can employ against them.
