In April 1992, the first SNES Zelda game, A Link to the Past, was released. It was the third installment of the Legend of Zelda series that started on the NES, and it would go down as one of the most popular and most reputable games of all time. Due to the game's popularity, Nintendo sought to revive the game from its SNES-exclusive release years later. In 2003, Nintendo re released A Link to the Past on the GameBoy Advance, adding the new multi player game Four Swords.

The game starts out with Link, getting a message from Zelda in form of telepathy. She asks him to come to the castle to save her. At the end of the meesage, Link uncle is getting ready for battle, and he heads off to the castle, only to be defeated, and killed. Link takes over and trys his best to save Zelda, but he fails because Agahnim sent her to the dark world. Link must then rescue the 8 maidens, including Zelda and save the world from Aghnim. He then fights Ganon to stop him from escaping to the Light World.
