[edit] Character Pages

(Twi)

Remember, if you're creating a character page, always add the page to the "Characters" category. See this page for example.

[edit] Another New Template

(Catboy14)

Red discovered a neat way to fill in the space to the right of a Table of Contents with the actual content, so I made it a template. Just put {{Template:LeftTOC}} at the top of a page for it to work. To demonstrate, I used it on this page.

(Twi)

Sweet. Just used it on a few pages.

[edit] New Template

(Catboy14)

With the help of The Answer, I made a spoiler template. Check it out! Use it whenever a page might contain plot spoilers. Can a staff please protect it?

(Vermillion)

Someone got here before me.

(Catboy14)

That would have been Twi. I almost always PM both of you the same thing if it's related to the wiki. :P

So do you have any comments? Can you think of any improvements or other templates that might be useful?

(Catboy14)

I just found a cool wiki feature to use templates. You can just type {{Template:Whatever}} and it copies the entire template page automatically! The problem is, there is other content in it beside the spoiler box, so that needs to be removed. Can a staff please unprotect it or edit out everything beside the actual spoiler box?

[edit] Page Delete

(Catboy14)

Can a staff please delete the Nintendo page? It was linked to a lot when people copy/pasted from Wikipedia, and since all of the content was since deleted to avoid copyright issues or something, it's number one on the short pages.

(Twi)

Done.

[edit] Walkthrough

(Catboy14)

Red suggests that there be walkthroughs for each game on the wiki. So I was thinking, there should be a 'walkthrough' link on the main page, with headers for of all of the games, then specific walkthrough links under them, such as 'Main Walkthrough', 'Heart Pieces', 'Sidequests'. If anybody has any walkthroughs that they have made themselves and submitted to Neoseeker, feel free to use those, and we will edit them, add stuff, whatever. That sound like a plan?

(Vermillion)

Before the Wikis were announced we also planned on adding guides for everything. Like Pieces Of Hearts Locations and insects, everything. I'm sure we can work on some by ourselves.

(Catboy14)

For everyone who doesn't know already, I set up the Walkthroughs page and added a link to it from the main page. We still need a lot of help on the guides, and as you can see, I've made a couple already, and it would be appreciated if you followed a similar format or even replaced it with a better one. The biggest job is to get the whole game walkthroughs in there. If you yourself have written a walkthrough, feel free to paste it in, even if you submitted it to Neoseeker. Just DO NOT copy anything that's not yours. Even if it is incomplete, we can edit anything that is there so that it has more info, is more organized, has links, etc., and it's a lot easier to improve upon an already written guide than it is to write one from scratch.

[edit] Unprotect The Main Page

(Deathsythe)

Could one of the staff please unprotect the Main Page so that I can preform the v2 Update and continue to work on it. Thanks.

(Twi)

Done.

(Catboy14)

The main page was protected again after a page protection error was fixed... Can it be unprotected again in case links and stuff need to be added?

(Vermillion)

PM either me or Twilightprince when you want it unlocked.

[edit] Categorization

(Catboy14)

Hey, I wanted to discuss the categorization of pages here. I think we should make the categories by game, but without the annoying first part (The Wind Waker instead of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker), and then have one for the main characters or points of the game, like Link, Triforce, etc. Thoughts? I want to make sure before I go on a mass categorization spree.

(Vermillion)

Yeah well, I really think there was never a need for the "The Legend Of Zelda:" part on every game page. It wan be worked that way, and people will find it easier to find pages that way. I'm neutral on the rest, so I will wait for Twilightprince to get here.

(Catboy14)

I just added a 'Categories' link to the main page to make them easier to access when they are added.

(Twi)

Actually Vermillion, there IS a need for the "The Legend of Zelda:" part on every game page. This is what Redemption said:

  • The page name should the EXACT spelling of the full game name, preferably the same as what Neoseeker uses. Eg the game's name is The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past then create that EXACT page (eg http://zelda.neoseeker.com/wiki/The_Legend_of_Zelda:_A_Link_to_the_Past ). Do NOT create a variant such as "Legend of Zelda - Link to the Past" or any other variants that have any changes. The spacing, colons, capitalisation, and inclusion of small words like "the","of","it" etc MUST be exact.

Anyway, I'm fine with the catagories. I'm pretty sure you don't need to include the full names in the catagories. So go for it.

(Vermillion)

Ah, thanks for cleaning that up =').
