Strich is a student at the Knight Academy in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. He lives in Skyloft and is part of a group alongside Cawlin under their leader Groose. Although he sports a tough image, it's merely a device to belong to his gang and is actually quite a gentle person with a passion for bug collecting.

[edit] The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

A quiet person, Strich relies on his height to intimidate and the strength of numbers by hanging around with Groose and Cawlin. When first introduced he's acting as part of a group mentality, seeing him attempt to sabotage Link's attempt to win the race at the Wing Ceremony by helping to hide his Crimson Loftwing and by pelting eggs at him during the race.

Following Groose's departure to The Surface, Strich begins to show his true colours by being polite to Link and engaging with his hobby of bug collecting. To this end Link may find him in his room at the Knight Academy during the night where he will ask Link for a certain bug in exchange for Rupees.

Following Link's quest to fix and use the Light Tower, a hole is opened into the Thunderhead that encompasses a number of islands. One of these is known as Bug Island, which Strich comes across and immediately falls in love with. From this point onward he may be found here during the day and for a small fee will allow Link to participate in a mini-game called Bug Heaven for a small fee.

This mini-game is involved in a side quest concerning Beedle and his prized Horned Colossus Beetle. Following the discovery that it is missing by talking to Beedle at his home on Beedle's Island, Link sets out to find his pet and return it. This search leads him to Bug Island where Strich will boast of his new, very rare find. Despite Link explaining the situation, Strich is hesitant to release the rare bug. Despite this, he agrees to let Link have it if he can complete a bug-catching list within a limit of three minutes, which can then be returned to Beedle for five Gratitude Crystals.

[edit] Appearance

Interestingly, Strich sports a haircut in the same style as his fellow bug enthusiast Beedle. As a junior student he does not wear an outfit of a knight, instead sporting a simple tunic with long, fingerless gloves and a lopsided belt. He's quite tall and lanky, which he uses as an asset in his gang.

[edit] Trivia

  • Strich's name most likely refers to his abnormal height, a quality he sees as a privilege.
