Koholint Island is the setting of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening/DX.
When Link is shipwrecked at sea on a journey back to Hyrule, you are woken up on Koholint Island by Marin. You soon learn that the guardian of the island is the Wind Fish, and you could not leave the island until you set the Wind Fish free. Throughout your journey on Koholint Island, you meet many people who resemble inhabitants of Hyrule.
At the end of the game, when the Wind Fish is fully awakened, the island of Koholint vanishes and disappears from existence. Was Koholint Island real, or just a place Link visits in his dreams?
