|First Game Appearance||The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass|
Gongoron is the Goron that helps Link in the Goron Temple in The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. He is the son of Biggoron, who is the chief of Goron Island. After you save him from monsters in Goron Temple, you can control him through part of the temple and the boss fight. You can also control him during a game on Dee Ess Island.
Although his abilities are very similar to Goron Link's from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, he plays quite differently. Rather than being sluggish in regular form and with somewhat bad turning and acceleration, Gongoron is swift, with loose traction while at high speeds. Along with being a lot smaller, Gongoron's other changes are that he cannot punch or use Powder Kegs. His Ground Slam ability, however, is one of his bigger changes, as rather than just floating up and landing, he jumps over his opponents and then slams down on them. Gongoron also isn't shown as having a resistance to lava, but this is entirely because he never touches lava.
